10 Great Lessons I Have Learnt as a Content Creator | Kelx
Finally, I am a content creator! I tried content creation for the first time; these are the 10 invaluable lessons that I have learned! Being a content creator involves a lot of self-discovery to remain afloat in the ever-changing creator economy. With the rise of new technology & AI, and more creators in the game, one needs to stay relevant and grow. This is me trying to come up with great ideas for my digital platforms and experimenting with different styles as a digital creator growing my brand, Kelxfy.
In my journey, I have learnt 10 invaluable lessons that I want to share with you in this article as we start 2025 to help you also navigate through and succeed as a digital creator.
*By the way, I have managed to grow my channel to 25,000 subscribers, of which I am proud. I used TubeBuddy for YouTube to do this. Check below.
Be ready to experiment.
Growing my brand, Kelxfy, has not only been an exciting moment but also a learning moment for me. I had to try different things in order to understand how I can be of value to my audience. I had to take time back and learn, see what works for me.
Advise: I experimented on different social media platforms to see what works well for me as a creator. I also advise you to also do the same to identify which platform well suits your needs as a creator.
Be Open
I learnt how to be open with myself and understand what I am capable of and what I am not capable of. Taking advantage of my strengths and also being open to learning. I had to focus more on what I had with me and the resources available at my disposal.
Being open often helps one to be able to relate with your audience, especially if you like going live or creating vlogs. This has really helped me to become more confident on camera.
Be Real & Authentic
Being real as a content creator is one thing you can use to turn your passion into profit. I have realised that the chance to make the first impression is now! Taking advantage of the present and seeing what opportunities are available for me as a creator has really helped me to stand out as a creator.
Being authentic and real will not only help you be aware of yourself but also understand more about your audience. This helps in creating content they want.
Be Patient
Being patient is one of the greatest virtues of a content creator if you want to succeed. I learnt this the hard way. For example, I started my YouTube channel in 2020, and it got monetised in 2024. This shows that I had to wait for this success.
Trust The Process
Trusting the process is very crucial as a content creator. This will fuel your creativity and help you turn your passions to profit eventually. As you begin your journey, you might feel overwhelmed, yes, but slowly and slowly you get used to it.
For example, when I was beginning my streaming career, I never knew that one day I would get much success with it. During my first months, I struggled with being a good storyteller, but slowly and slowly I improved to a point that my livestreams changed my life after becoming good at it.
Be Ready to Evolve
Be ready to learn and evolve; just like I mentioned about experimentation above, being ready to evolve is very important. As you grow as a content creator, so do your skills, thinking, as well as content. Having this growth mindset will help you feel motivated in your journey as you get fresh and new ideas.
Tip: Don’t stagnate or get burnt out; always be ready for growth as a creator.
Have goals.
To become a successful content creator, I had to balance between what my content creation goals were and what my business goals were. I sifted through the many options I had at the moment and fine-tuned my goals to be aligned with my passion. This has really helped me to focus on what’s important and be time-bound!
As you create your brand, you are also attracting and growing with your fans. Give them valuable and important content so that you can maintain a good relationship with your audience. Also, treating your content creation adventure as a business will help you align your goals to your mission and vision as a creator.
Please don’t take it personally.
I learnt not to take everything I see online personally; at the end of the day, I am just a creator trying to put my work out there, and I expect feedback! As a creator, you have to live with the truth that when it comes to content, it’s not all about you but them—your audience. Creating content is all about crafting meaningful content for your target audience. It’s about them, so don’t take it personally, including their opinions.
Do it like it’s your full-time professional job.
Treat content creation as a full-time professional job, and you will be satisfied by the results of your hard work. I have learnt to always give my best in every task that I undertake, including content creation. This has helped me become aware of my strengths, and I am able to take content creation as a job just like any other professional job.
Use AI Tools
Using free AI tools has more advantages for modern content creators. It is a way to speed up your creative process. I have learnt to use AI as my friend to research and brainstorm ideas. AI has been a game changer this year, and in 2025, brace yourself for more AI evolution.
Closing Remarks
The content creator economy is growing rapidly, and more content is being consumed daily. As a content creator, you can take advantage of this need and curve your way in. With the right mindset, entrepreneurial spirit, and willingness to learn, anyone can become a successful content creator! Go for it!
