1. Wakadinali
Wakadinali, also known as Rong Rende, consists of Domani Munga, Scar Mkadinali, and Sewersydaa. Wakadinali is best known for its consistency, and they have naturally developed a strong musical craft over time. Their success was clearly seen in 2020 when they released their debut album, “Victims of Madness.” Victims of Madness made them get recognized worldwide, especially with their song “Geri Inengi.”
2. Buruklyn Boyz
Buruklyn Boyz is made up of two young, energetic youths, namely Ajay and Mr. Right. Buruklyn Boyz came to the limelight with their drill song “Nairobi,” which was released in 2021. In 2022, Buruklyn Boyz released their debut album, “East Mpaka London,” which has continued to be one of the best drill albums in Kenya.
3. G.T.A
G.T.A is a group of Drill Music artists based in Githurai 44. G.TA is often associated with Natty, Mando, and PM. GTA came to the limelight when Natty, who is a music producer, released the song “Rong”.
4. Davaji
Davaji is a Kenyan drill artist based in Kaloleni, Nairobi, Kenya. Davaji is best known for his lyrical abilities, how he has mastered drill music and his impressive rap skills. Davaji first became famous with his song “1000 Streets.” He has featured Buruklyn Boyz members in his songs and supports artists such as Big Yasa. Davaji is proud of his hood and often shoots his music videos in his hood.
5. Jodye Faneto
Jodye Faneto is a rapidly rising Kenyan drill artist signed to Mad Records. Jodye is best known for his song “Pach,” which features his producer, Skinny Gean. Since Jodye came into the music scene, he has released the Roadman EP. In 2022, Jodye Faneto released the 4-track EP Boy Mbad which features artists Groovy Jo and Kanobbie.
6. Big Yasa
Big Yasa also known as Biggs, is a Kenyan drill artist. Big Yasa came to the limelight when he released his song “Cold.” In 2022, Big Yasa released his debut album, “Biggs Deluxe,” hence topping the charts.
How Kenyan Drill Started
The Kenyan music drill scene started in 2019 but became popular between 2020 and 2021 after Gengetone music became less popular. Drill has continued to be enjoyed across the country thanks to Wakadinali and Buruklyn Boyz, who are making it big as pioneers.
