Why Most Bloggers Quit – My Experience as a Blogger
I have been blogging on the internet since 2018 when I started my first WordPress blog. Five years down the line, I have realized why most bloggers quit it. In this article I will tell you all about it and what I have discovered. The challenges, the truth, and the beauty of blogging.
Frankly speaking, blogging is not an easy job as they tell you. It involves a lot of passion and interest. You must be willing to research and also be willing to spend most of your time reading and organizing yourself.
However, the good news is that as time goes by, you realize that blogging is something quite interesting as you get to express yourself and you become an industry leader. You become a leader in your niche and you already have a voice. Just like you will find YouTubers who have mastered their craft, blogging is all about that.
But let’s go to the main topic, why bloggers quit!
1. Inconsistency
You see, when blogging, you need to be consistent in your blog. This will keep your audience hooked and they will keep coming back for more. For me, I always publish consistently but there are other times that you get other engagements. For example, you might feel that you don’t wanna write anything. So you procrastinate. I have procrastinated many times, especially when I feel like creating videos instead of writing. But I changed this, beginning this July, I will be creating my own timetable so I don’t get lost in this procrastination that affects my productivity.
2. Quick Cash
Most people come to this field thinking that they can be a millionaire overnight. When I was starting out, I thought I will be a millionaire when I started my blog but this is not the case. The thing is to build first an audience and then you turn your audience to support you. You can create a business through blogging. I have seen successful bloggers selling merchandise or even online courses or even doing adverts. It all takes time.
Honestly speaking, blogging can make you a good amount of money through ad revenue but there are other things you can do to make some income. For Kelxfy, I usually sell my skills to my clients. I started Kelxfy to provide digital solutions to my clients and to help our audience discover meaningful content on Kelxfy.
3. Lack of Motivation
Lack of motivation is something that makes many bloggers quit. In this industry, not all times you will get the numbers and this is okay. As a digital marketer, I have learned to take my time and analyze my analytics. What is my audience looking for? Taking time to research gives you the motivation to write appealing articles that people will read and act on. So just make sure that you motivate yourself with knowledge and skills when you don’t have the motivation.
Take a look at the months that you made a good income off your blogging skills and imagine why you started it. The same motivation you had when starting out should the same motivation that should keep you moving every day. Have a clear vision of what you want to achieve with your blog. This will keep you motivated every day.
Some months you may make a good amount through blogging while some months you may make nothing. Just do your thing, you never know what the future holds. Successful bloggers never quit, they keep pushing until one day they become an industry leaders.
4. Copy Paste
There is this notion of copying and pasting content. Google never loves content that appears the same, actually, you ruin your reputation when you copy and paste content. As a blogger, you need to write original content and if you have to copy, you don’t have to copy and paste. You need to come up with creative articles and also acknowledge the source if it is necessary.
Writing meaningful blogs that will help people is something I do with Kelxfy. Sometimes, I take my time to come up with articles that have never been written before and which are very meaningful to my audience. I give credit or attach a link for my audience to learn more about the source.
It is good to be original and authentic even your readers will love how you take the extra mile to present the information they were looking for.
5. Lack of Originality
Originality is something I think everyone was gifted with. How I might do what I do might be different from what another person does. So being original is being yourself. You don’t need to fake anything. Just be yourself and tell your story how you’d like to. This is the power that everyone has and everyone brings something different to the table.
As a blogger, you don’t have to do exactly what someone else is doing, you might just get inspired and do it your way. Writing original content actually gives your website authority and you become a voice in your industry or niche.
6. Lack of Interest
Just like we have seen many YouTubers go missing, also bloggers go missing. This is because you lack interest in blogging. This doesn’t have to be the case. Personally, I think a lack of interest comes when you get involved in too many things at a particular time.
When you try to blog and write many things you become overwhelmed over time. This is why most articles advise that you do things that excite you, the same applies to blogging. If you want to be a successful blogger, just blog about the things that interest you and this will make you feel like you want to continue every day when you wake up.
7. Losing Momentum
Look, when you lose momentum, you lose yourself. I have experienced this and even wrote about it. It happens all the time. You can lose momentum especially when you get caught up in some other things. Blogging involves research and when you lose momentum you lose. What I do when I lose momentum, is I actually take a small break and come back or even choose a nice quiet place that I go to blog. Once in a while, I change my location and also my blogging time. There are some times I feel like writing blogs at night, other times I visit the library where I feel motivated to do my research.
8. Lack of Focus
Lack of focus is another reason why most bloggers quit. When blogging make sure you focus on the things that matter to you. After all, we are all humans and there are things that we feel are more important to us and matter to us more than other things. Concentrate on the things you feel important and write about them.
I have also used the Pomodoro principle/ technique to help me with my time management. Check out this video by Glasco it helped me improve my focus and concentration while using the Monk Mode.
Conclusion
Blogging has opened a lot of opportunities for me. I enjoy blogging and would love everyone to tell their stories through blogs. I have realized that through blogging I get to express myself and present the things that I love through blogs. Actually, blogging has made me connect with my audience personally. The Kelxfy Blog is a perfect blog for all, it helps you discover meaningful content that will improve your life. My purpose with the blog is to inform, entertain and educate.
