Ferdinand Omanyala wins Kenya Gold during Commonwealth Games
Ferdinand Omanyala has made Kenya proud once again after securing a Gold medal win during Commonwealth games at Birmingham. Omanyala clocked 10.02 seconds to beat the defending champion Akaine Simbine of South Africa who finished second.
The current African champion soothed hearts of Kenyan’s once again when he won the 1000 m on Wednesday 3rd Aug 2022. He made a sterling take off which made him beat South Africa Champion Akaani Simbine who clocked 10.13 sec. Sri Lankan Yupun Abeykoon took third place to win a bronze in 10.14 sec.
“We have been looking forward to this and thanks to my team and the Kenyans who have supported me throughout this journey”,Omanyala said.
This win comes after he failed to secure a win in Oregon, USA .During his visit to Oregon he had an issue with his visa which saw him arrive just hours before the 100m where he was able to reach semi-finals.
