Vinny Flava Rise To Fame: Kenyan Top Artist

Vinny Flava real name Vincent Mgenya Omondi has been the talk of the town since the release of his new song “Habibi”. To many, Vinny Flava seems like a new artist in the game, with only four songs on his YouTube channel. But this is not true. Vinny Flava has been in the music industry since 2021, when he released his first song, “Come Over.” In 2023, Vinny Flava topped the charts with his new song “Habibi” which debuted at position one on the YouTube Top Songs in Kenya.

How It All Started

When Vinny Flava first came into the game, not so many people knew about him, we got to know him through Diana B Entertainment by Diana Bahati where he was signed. But how did they know about Vinny Flava?

The Story

Vinny Flava was discovered by Diana Bahati in the streets of Nairobi while he was working as a hawker. At that time, Vinny Flava was an aspiring artist; he used to hawk clothes and other stuff. Diana was shooting for the “Bahati Reality” show that used to premiere on NTV. Vinny approached Diana Bahati and at this point, he truly expressed himself and was offered a job as a P.A. Slowly, Vinny Flava rose to prominence after Diana B. Entertainment Records signed him. Soon they would part ways, and Vinny Flava would become an independent artist. Check out the below video.

While at Diana B Entertainment, Vinny Flava got a chance to work with Diana Bahati. On February 2, 2022, they released a new song titled “Mubaba”. In the song description, we learn that Vinny Flava was the first signee of Diana B Entertainment. Check out the song below.

Vinny Flava Interview

In an interview with Brian Mutinda, also known as Commentator 254, Vinny revealed that his musical journey started way back when he was living in Eldoret. He only came to Nairobi in 2020, to advance his musical career. While in Nairobi, he shared that he has undergone many challenges while pursuing his passion, but he never gave up. Interestingly, four years down the line, he is the top artist currently trending with the number-one song in the country.
