YBW Smith Musical Journey

Growing up in Buru Buru inspired YBW Smith’s musical journey, which started in 2018 while still in high school. At that time, YBW Smith was just 16 years old, and Gengetone music had taken over the Kenyan entertainment industry. YBW Smith joined other Kenyan youths in the entertainment industry with a promising future to revolutionize the music industry.

Releasing songs back-to-back with no industry success did not deter him from writing songs and collaborating with other artists. YBW Smith continued chasing his musical goals with the hope that one day he would get recognition and his music would reach more people.

In 2022, YBW Smith would open a new YouTube channel, and he would then release his first song on the channel, “4:20 Madawa” on June 3, 2022. Later in that year, he would follow up with “Madawa” and “Anapiga Pic”.

On April 17, 2023, YBW Smith teamed up with Lufasa to release their collaboration “Lele” which has made him gain recognition and fame.

Speaking to Kelxfy, YBW Smith revealed that he has new music coming soon featuring Lil Maina and other artists. True to his words, YBW Smith went ahead to release “Lele Remix” featuring Lil Maina and Sosa The Prodidy.

In 2024, YBW Smith together with Lil Maina, Sosa The Prodigy and Danski launched their new record label called Watoto Wakorofi.
