How Buruklyn Boyz Changed Kenyan Drill Music

You can’t mention Kenyan Drill Music and forget about Buruklyn Boyz. Buruklyn Boyz have been the face of Kenyan Drill Music since they came into the game in 2019. Even though they officially launched their signature in drill after releasing one of the biggest drill song in Kenya “Nairobi”. Nairobi first hit the airwaves on Dec 23, 2020. After this masterpiece dropped it has now accumulated 3 Million views. It is among Kenyan drill songs that have more than 1 million views. Other Kenyan drill artist who have songs with more than one million views include; Wakadinali and Octopizzo just to mention but a few.
Buruklyn Boyz Members & Drill Music

Buruklyn Boyz members names include; Mr Right, Ajay and Luizy . Though other members are behind the scenes. Buruklyn Boyz was formed in 2019 in Buru Buru, Nairobi. Their YouTube channel was created on Mar 9, 2019. Their first song “Durag na Slice” was uploaded on YouTube on April 14, 2019 launching their career officially.
Even though Buruklyn started as a rappers, they were inspired by UK drill music to start drill music in Kenya. At the time, they had to find the right beats, so they hooked up with their in-house producer Corban Dencho. Dencho has been mixing, mastering and producing most of their songs since 2019. Though most of their initial music like “Billie Jean” still have copyright claims.

Billie Jean is the first drill music video by Buruklyn Boyz . “Billie Jean” was released on Sep 12, 2020. “Billie Jean” was well received and inspired Tano Nane to release their hitsong “Nairobi”.
Nairobi

The song Nairobi by Tano Nane aka Buruklyn Boyz released on December 23, 2020 is a Kenyan drill song. “Nairobi” is produced by : Def beats. Mixed and mastered by : Corban dencho, the video was directed by : Omoke.
After the song Nairobi was released one catchy phrase “Kwani ni Kesho” started trending making fans discover the song. However, the visuals, the sound and lyrics made a great impact since it was a new sound, not the usual gengetone sound at the time.
Buruklyn Boyz Vs Wakadinali
Buruklyn Boyz are yet to collaborate with Wakadinali, even though their fans feel that they can make a hit song and change drill scene in Kenya. In 2022, Sauti featured Buruklyn Boyz and Wakadinali in “Tujiangalie Remix” released days ahead of 2022 General Election. Also Ajay has collaborated with Sewersydaa in the song “Goodmorning Africa” released in 2021. Buruklyn Boyz have been spotted hanging with Wakadinali and they are about to release the most anticipated project in the near future.

Buruklyn Boyz Vs G.T.A / Beef
Buruklyn Boyz and GTA (beef escalated when they started dissing each other in songs. GTA TV adopted the Green bandana while Buruklyn Boyz adopted the Blue Bandana in order to avoid comparison. Though GTA still believe they are the best drill artists in Kenya, Buruklyn also claim to be the best. Fans can’t help choose. However I feel they all produce good music worth listening to.
